Don’t make this classic mistake when ordering netball posts!

Here’s my expert guide to help you make the right choice:

There are three categories of match netball post to suit your court, freestanding, telescopic and socketed

But what is paramount – and many people make this mistake thinking they’re saving money – is ensuring the ring is the regulation 16mm (this is the diameter of the metal ring, not the hole the ball goes through!).

So why is a 16mm ring recommended?

First and foremost, this is the regulation size as per World Netball and your home nations governing bodies. So, if you’re taking part in competition your post must meet this regulation.

A 16mm ring is also far more durable and will last you longer. Your ring won’t become mis-shaped like inferior models.

Don't make your life harder

Around schools and sports centres, netball posts are moved around regularly as sports halls are used for any sports. During this process, the posts get knocked around and if you’ve a thin ring – there are many 10mm posts on the market – your ring will soon become more of an oval.

That doesn’t help anyone, your post is not regulation, you have to replace in no time and then the challenge can be actually buying a replacement ring for the post.

We’d all prefer to put more time into coaching, officiating or managing. So, save in the long run and ensure your post has a 16mm regulation ring.
